Privacy Policy

This page covers the pantry web app, the optional care tool and the iOS development build. For Android, see the Android privacy policy (Chinese). For native HarmonyOS, see the HarmonyOS privacy policy (Chinese).

FreshLife believes the everyday details of your household don’t need to leave your device. This policy tries to say, in plain language: what stays on your device, when anything ever connects, and what you can do at any time.

Pantry web app · local records

Applies to freshlifeapp.cn/app/; updated 25 September 2026. Food names, quantities, units, storage locations, expiry dates, shopping and usage history, review status (present or uncertain) and review time stay in this browser’s local database. They support pantry checks, on-page date status and shopping. Pantry records are not uploaded or synced with an account or native app.

Opening the site and refreshing its offline cache requests pages and files from the hosting provider; this does not upload your pantry. The browser also caches app files and stores appearance preferences and the time of your last backup request. The first visit needs an internet connection. The web app has no ad or analytics SDK and sends no background expiry notifications.

Data & Backups lets you export a JSON file, restore a matching web backup or erase local records. The export includes pantry, shopping, usage and review records. A restore replaces the existing local records after confirmation. Keep exported files safe. Clearing site data, private browsing or changing devices may erase records, and there is no developer cloud copy to recover them. Please do not enter unrelated identity or health details in pantry records. Questions: Minqihang0119@163.com.

Web care tool · local health-related notes

From 25 September 2026, the optional Everyday Care tool lets you select a life stage, care topic, general feeling, next action and an optional note of up to 240 characters. These may reveal sensitive health information or information about a child. The tool does not ask for a real name, birth date, identity number or gender. Avoid entering details that are unnecessary, and respect the privacy of anyone you care for.

Without checking the separate “save in this browser” box, notes last only while the page remains open. If you check it, the tool saves your notes and permission in a separate local browser database. It does not read your pantry, upload notes, or sync with an account, native app or other device. Someone sharing your device may see saved notes; clearing browser data or changing devices may erase them.

The daily check-in reminder is off by default. If enabled, this browser stores only the switch, chosen time and whether today’s prompt has appeared. Your feeling and taste choices shape one reply and are not saved. A closed browser cannot send a background reminder. You can turn the prompt off anytime; deleting all notes in this tool also clears the reminder setting.

Before recording for someone else, the tool asks you to confirm their permission or an appropriate care role; notes for babies and children also require parent or legal guardian confirmation. You can review notes, mark actions done, delete individual or all notes, and export JSON yourself. If you choose an exported file, the tool previews it and asks again before merging adult notes into this browser. Notes about minors are not imported or saved on the device. An export may contain sensitive information; keep it safe. Deleting notes in the tool does not delete files already exported. Deleting all notes also removes saving permission. There is no cloud copy to restore. The tool does not diagnose, recommend treatment or medication changes, assess infant development or decide whether a situation is an emergency. Contact a qualified professional with health concerns, and use local emergency services for urgent situations.

This version does not save health notes about babies, children or teenagers on the device; those notes last only while the page is open. Before creating a note for a baby or child, the person entering it must confirm they are a parent or legal guardian. Any export about a minor is the exporter’s responsibility to safeguard. Long-term storage of minors’ information would require a separate policy and review before it could be offered.

Web care section updated: 25 September 2026

Android 1.0.15 and HarmonyOS 1.0.13 · Local meal and nutrition records (October 4, 2026)

This notice applies to these updates; a version number does not mean a release is available. Package nutrition labels that you enter and confirm are stored on the device when you save a food. Unprovided values remain unknown. Meal plans, cooking progress, completed meals and actual quantities stay local. Completion records keep the food name, unit, amount and confirmed label snapshot from that time, for resuming cooking and reviewing history, without diagnosis or automatic dietary decisions. Backups include these business records; restoring requires confirmation. Clearing business data or uninstalling removes device records, but you must delete separately saved backups yourself. Recipe ordering, visibility, illustrations and tip settings also stay local. Source links open in an external browser only when you choose them; the app does not send pantry, meal or nutrition label data. Upgrading asks you to confirm the revised policy without automatically clearing existing stock. This notice replaces earlier statements that nutrition figures are not saved; other offline rules continue to apply.

Earlier Android privacy summary

The Android store build has no network permission, account or cloud sync. Optional gender identity and a short self-description, home layout and appearance choices stay on this device. Daily care and expiry reminders are off until you enable them; daily feeling and taste answers are used only for the current reply, not saved as a health profile. The nutrition scratchpad uses package-label figures you enter for a temporary estimate and does not save that estimate or diagnose anything. See the full Chinese Android policy for inventory, classification, backups, deletion and sharing terms. A version number does not mean the build has been published.

Earlier HarmonyOS privacy summary

The HarmonyOS build has no network permission, account or cloud sync. You create classification records yourself or opt in while recording use; they stay on this device, enter local backups and can be deleted, but do not mean a physical collection occurred. Daily care is off by default and prompts only when you open the app at the chosen time; feeling and taste answers are not saved. Optional gender identity, a short self-description and home appearance choices stay local and do not determine health needs. See the full Chinese HarmonyOS policy for the remaining terms. A version number does not mean the build has been published.

Unreleased iOS development build

iOS section last updated: August 2026Applies to the unreleased FreshLife iOS 1.0.0 development build

1. The one-sentence version

The current version of FreshLife requires no account and has no cloud sync. Core data like your pantry and preferences stays on your device by default; there are no ad SDKs, no third-party analytics and no cross-app tracking. If optional remote AI ships later, only the minimum needed for a request would be processed, and only when you have turned it on and use it.

2. Data stored on your device

FreshLife stores the following locally on your device — it is not uploaded anywhere automatically:

  • Item records: name, category, storage spot, expiry date, quantity, unit, notes and optional photos;
  • Food history: when items were added, how much was used, whether anything was discarded;
  • Completed meals and shopping list entries;
  • Preference and onboarding settings: goals, eating style, liked and avoided foods, allergy information;
  • An optional profile: nickname, avatar, gender, birthday, region and bio (not required for core features);
  • Local activity summaries generated from food records: daily counts, completed meals, water entries and streaks;
  • AI memory (if enabled) and notification preferences;
  • Local JSON backups in the app’s support directory (up to 5 copies).

The daily care reminder is off by default, and you choose its time. Its notification shows only a general greeting. Your feeling and taste choices shape a reply in the current view; they are not saved, sent to remote AI or shared with family sync. Gender identity and a self-description in your profile are optional and do not determine body-related features. You can turn the reminder off or delete local profile data at any time.

The current version does not collect height, weight, basal metabolism, calorie intake, diagnosis or treatment records. Preferences such as allergies, dietary and health goals — even though they live only on your device today — are treated as sensitive information.

3. What is never collected automatically

The current version sends no location, advertising identifiers, usage statistics or crash reports to third parties. Debug logs exist only in developer builds. Remote requests would only ever be made when using an enabled AI service, under a locally generated anonymous installation identifier.

4. Optional AI services

The current version (1.0.0) does not enable remote AI. If it is enabled in the future, it will only ever work the following way, after your explicit consent:

  • Photos from the camera or album may be sent to a gateway for food recognition;
  • Conversation text and minimal pantry context (item names, quantities, units and expiry status) may be sent;
  • Allergy information, health goals, profile details, AI memory, meal history, shopping history and long-term behavior records are not part of any planned remote AI requests; if that scope ever changes, we will update this policy and obtain consent as required by law;
  • No service-provider API keys are built into the app or submitted by it;
  • The gateway issues short-lived anonymous tokens bound to your local installation identifier and stores no prompts or images.

If AI-generated text, images or other content is ever provided, it will be labeled “AI-generated” in the interface so you can recognize it. In the current version, photo recognition uses Apple Vision on your device — photos never leave it.

5. QR codes

FreshLife food QR codes are parsed locally on your device; no network is used for this. Retail barcode lookup is not part of the current version.

6. Retention, export and deletion

Data stays on your device until you decide to delete it. Uninstalling the app removes its sandbox; OS backups and keychain entries follow platform behavior. At any time, in the Privacy Center, you can:

  • Export pantry, history, completed meals, shopping list and language preferences (currently as text);
  • Delete all local data, including AI memory, backups and the local identity;
  • Reset AI memory on its own.

7. Permissions

Camera, photo and notification permissions are managed by iOS. Declining optional permissions doesn’t affect manual pantry management; you can change authorizations anytime in system Settings, and the Privacy Center shows their current state.

8. Children’s privacy

FreshLife is not a service aimed at children and is not used for medical diagnosis. If we ever provide services for children, we will first complete the appropriate age rating and children’s privacy assessment.

9. Security

The app uses the iOS sandbox, standard iOS data protection and the Keychain (for the local identity); any remote communication uses HTTPS.

10. Policy updates

For important changes, we update the date on this page and, where appropriate, notify you inside the app.

11. China (mainland) release notes

Before a public release in mainland China, we need to finalize and publish the operating entity and contact channels, the personal information processing notice, separate consent for sensitive information, and applicable app filing procedures. If remote AI transfers personal information outside China, the overseas recipient and transfer mechanism must also be stated. This page will be updated once those facts are settled.

12. Disclaimer

AI suggestions and meal plans are for reference only and are not medical, diagnostic or emergency advice.
