Versions and update notes

October 9 · Experience review across four platforms

Web beta 1.4.2 connects meal plans, actual quantity confirmation and leftover records more closely, and corrects English units and allergen guidance. Planning and browsing steps do not consume stock; confirm amounts after cooking.

Android 1.0.16 is under store review. HarmonyOS 1.0.14 has been submitted and is undergoing automated pre-review. This update aligns meal cards, buttons, input forms and light and dark appearance, with checks of stock saving, backup restoration and cancellation. Downloads will be available after store approval; the currently published versions remain Android 1.0.15 and HarmonyOS 1.0.13.

Android and native HarmonyOS are listed only on Huawei AppGallery

Android 1.0.15 and native HarmonyOS 1.0.13 are published on Huawei AppGallery. Download from the official listings and check the store pages for device compatibility and regional availability.

Improvements in this release cycle

Android 1.0.15 · Available

This release includes six offline recipes, stock-based additions and meal display settings. This release fixes text loading on older Android versions, prevents a crash when source links cannot open and avoids loading illustrations when they are switched off. Planning and browsing steps do not consume stock; you confirm actual amounts after cooking.

HarmonyOS 1.0.13 · Available

This release supports recipe ordering and visibility, with image and tip switches. This release fixes rollback after settings fail to save, prevents overlapping writes and adds feedback when meal actions fail to save. Whole items still require whole-number amounts; stock is unchanged until confirmation.

HarmonyOS 1.0.7 / Android 1.0.7 · Earlier release

  • Shopping search, result counts and paginated lists.
  • Usage confirmation shows the amount and remaining stock, rejects invalid entries and offers suitable whole-item choices.
  • Clearer selected shortcuts, confirmation labels and action hierarchy.

These improvements are available in HarmonyOS 1.0.7 (September 23) and Android 1.0.7 (September 23).

Android 1.0.6 / HarmonyOS 1.0.5 · Previous update

  • Unit-appropriate usage choices and remaining-stock previews. Package counts are not automatically converted to grams.
  • Component-specific guidance for food scraps, empty containers, paper, soiled tissues, films and special waste.
  • Optional local sorting records reflect actual materials, without invented weights or automatically empty packaging. Non-recyclable items can go directly to local disposal guidance.
  • Changing a completed record’s name, material, quantity, unit or note returns it to pending confirmation.

Check AppGallery for the currently downloadable Android and HarmonyOS versions. Both remain free and local, without cloud sync. HarmonyOS has no background expiry alerts. Full physical-device validation is not complete.

Web beta 1.4.1 · October 4, 2026

Usage records now open their details when clicked; right-click opens the same actions. Add a food to your shopping list by entering the quantity you need and confirming Save. Cancel leaves data unchanged. The original record and pantry are preserved. Keyboard controls work in both Chinese and English.

Web beta 1.4.0 · September 26, 2026

Quick food buttons fill a familiar name and unit while leaving the actual quantity and package date for you to confirm. Search real scraps or packaging from the pantry and after finishing an item. The result points to material guidance and local rules; FreshLife physical collection is not open. Invalid quantities now receive a form-specific message. Records and backups keep the same local format.

Web beta 1.3.0 · September 23, 2026

Check up to five pantry items at a time: still here, not sure, no longer here, or skip. Recheck individual items through More → Check presence. Checks leave quantities unchanged and never invent usage. Removing an absent item requires confirmation; the last check can be undone. Uncertain stock is flagged before shopping.

Backup format 3 preserves check status and accepts older backups. Older app versions cannot read new backups. Data stays local. This update has not yet been ported to native apps.

Web beta 1.2.0 · September 22, 2026

New in 1.2.0: an English interface for pantry, shopping, usage confirmation, sorting and backups. English and Chinese share records in this browser; language changes do not rename your food or convert quantities.

Navigation, forms, confirmation messages and sorting guidance are available in English. Existing usage choices and local records are retained. The web version is separate from native app versions; the local data format is unchanged.

  • Choose one unit, half, approximately one third, all remaining or a custom amount, with unit-appropriate options and a preview.
  • Open component sorting guidance after use while keeping the undo action. Web currently offers guidance, not persistent sorting records.
  • Pantry, shopping, history and backup data remain in the current browser, without native app sync.

Try the English web app → · Material and disposal guide →

If the old quantity window remains, save your work, open online, close all FreshLife tabs and Home Screen windows, then reopen. Do not clear website data.

Previous release: Android 1.0.4 / HarmonyOS 1.0.3

Android refreshes reminders after shopping items enter the pantry and strengthens backup integrity checks. HarmonyOS adds a system expiry-date picker, refines light and dark layouts, card actions and screen-reader labels, and rechecks the official privacy URL. Both remain free and offline, without accounts. Builds, signatures and emulator checks are complete; physical-device acceptance testing is not complete.

Next: food profiles, nutrition and a consistent product

We are working toward shared rules for allergies, intolerances, avoided foods, tastes, cuisines, equipment and household members across pantry, meals and shopping. Nutrition needs a stated source and serving amount; missing data must not appear as zero, and household food usage must not be treated as personal intake.

This release cycle improves local meal plans and actual quantity confirmation. Full food-profile coverage, cross-device sync and household collaboration still need implementation and validation, without an announced launch date. Membership cards, the store and in-person purchases are not available.

What is available on each platform?

Android 1.0.15 and native HarmonyOS 1.0.13 are published on Huawei AppGallery. Download from the official listings and check the store pages for device compatibility and regional availability.

  • Web: Pantry, shopping, history, usage choices, remaining-stock previews, sorting guidance and local backups are available. Guidance does not create a trackable collection order.
  • Earlier Android and HarmonyOS releases: Include usage improvements, sorting guidance and local sorting records. Older installations may not include these features.
  • iOS: Usage and sorting guidance changes have passed focused checks, but the app is not available on the App Store.

Data remains separate on each platform. Use the matching backup format. Collection, redeemable rewards and verified processing tracking are not available.

A clearer everyday workflow

  1. Choose the unit when adding food: grams for weighed food, the recorded unit for liquids, or whole-item tracking for indivisible packs.
  2. Choose the actual amount and check what remains. Half means 0.5 of the recorded unit; approximately one third means about 0.333 of that unit, not a fraction of remaining stock. Choose all remaining when finishing the item.
  3. Check sorting guidance only for packaging or scraps actually produced. A partly used bottle is not an empty container.
  4. Non-recyclable items can go directly to local disposal guidance, without creating a recycling record.

How do I update the app?

Open AppGallery on a compatible device, search for FreshLife and verify the developer information shown on the official listing. Tap Update when offered. Export a backup first; there is no need to uninstall or clear app data.

Which quantity should I use?

Use “2 boxes” with whole-item tracking if you use each box as one unit. Use “1000 g” for rice, then record “150 g” when used. Packages are not automatically converted to weight or volume. Released Android and HarmonyOS apps and the web beta support whole-item quantities; iOS still needs this capability.

Offline releases do not offer accounts, cloud sync, membership, community or shopping transactions. Backups are not guaranteed to work across platforms; use the matching platform’s restore option.

Android guide

Check Huawei AppGallery for the version available in mainland China. The current native interface is in Chinese. Open Huawei AppGallery. For local inventory, shopping, reminders and backup instructions, see the Chinese guide.

HarmonyOS guide

Download for HarmonyOS

Check AppGallery for the version available in mainland China. The current native interface is in Chinese. Search for FreshLife in AppGallery on a compatible device and verify the developer information on the official listing. The desktop listing is a preview; continue installation on a compatible HarmonyOS device. The package requires API 26; follow the store’s device compatibility notice. Installation details (Chinese).

Does HarmonyOS send background expiry alerts?

The current native HarmonyOS app provides expiry filtering inside the app, but does not send background expiry notifications. Open your pantry regularly to check dates.

How do I keep my records when changing devices?

Export a backup from the original device and keep it somewhere you can access again. Restore HarmonyOS backups in the HarmonyOS app and Android backups in the Android app; cross-platform import and automatic sync are not supported. Restoration replaces current records, so back up any existing data first. Keep the original app installed until you have checked the restored records.

Web app · Beta

Open the English web app for pantry, shopping and usage records. Data stays in the current browser, without App sync, camera recognition or background notifications. Export a backup before clearing browser data.

Where should I start?

Add food with the quantity, unit and date from its packaging. For several items, choose “Keep for batch” for each one, then “Save all”; staged items are not in your pantry yet. Use “Select multiple” when several items are completely finished, or “Use” on one item to enter the actual amount. Records change only after you confirm.

Where are my previous records?

Check the original device, browser and entry point, then clear search filters. Home Screen and browser records may differ. Do not clear website data first. Export a backup from the original entry if records are still available; cleared local records cannot be recovered from the cloud.

Why am I still seeing an older version?

Save your work, open FreshLife while online, then close all its browser tabs and Home Screen windows and reopen it. There is no need to clear browser data.

Add FreshLife to your iPhone Home Screen

This is a web beta, not an App Store download.

  1. Open FreshLife web beta (English) in Safari on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Some layouts place Share under More. Scroll or check Edit Actions if the option is missing.
  3. If offered, enable Open as Web App, then tap Add.
  4. Open FreshLife from your Home Screen. Connect once and check offline cache readiness in Data & Backups.

The icon, name and standalone configuration are ready; physical iPhone installation has not yet been verified. Try a few records first and export backups regularly.

No native App or cross-device sync, and no background expiry notifications. If existing records do not appear, export them from the original browser and restore them in the new entry. Back up before removing the web app or clearing browser data.

iOS preview help

The remaining instructions describe the unreleased iOS app, not Android or HarmonyOS.

Getting started

How do I add an item?

Tap the add button in the bottom-right and choose: type it, snap a photo, pick from your library, or scan. Typing is best when you want exact quantities, storage spots and expiry dates. Check the result and actual quantity before saving; matching names do not always mean matching packages or batches.

How is the freshness status calculated?

FreshLife compares the expiry date with today’s date and groups items into Fresh, Expiring or Expired. It recalculates across midnight, time-zone changes, and whenever the app returns to the foreground.

Photos & scanning

Why does it sometimes ask me to confirm?

Recognition can misread names, amounts or dates. Check the result against the packaging before saving. If it fails, retry or add the item manually.

Where does recognition happen?

Photo and album recognition run on your device with Apple Vision — no API key and no network. Recognition is a suggestion: you can edit the result anytime, or switch to manual entry.

Can I scan retail barcodes?

This version supports FreshLife food QR codes only; retail barcode lookup isn’t available yet.

The camera won’t work — what now?

Go to iOS Settings → FreshLife and check the camera permission. Even without camera access, you can still add items manually.

AI assistant

What’s the difference between on-device suggestions and remote AI?

Meal suggestions are computed locally from what is already in your pantry and work offline — they’re part of the current version. Remote AI is not enabled in the current version. If it ships later, it will be off by default, explain how data is processed, and ask for your clear consent before you turn it on. FreshLife will not ask you for an API key.

Will AI change my pantry on its own?

No. AI output is validated for structure and scope, and important pantry changes take effect only after you confirm them.

Why can’t I find remote AI?

Because remote AI is not enabled in the current version. Your local pantry, expiry reminders, shopping list and basic meal suggestions still work as normal. If remote AI ships later, the website and app will explain how it works and what data it processes first.

Privacy & data

Where is my data stored?

Core pantry and preference data live on your device, local-first. If optional remote AI ships later, only the data needed for a request would be processed, and only when you have turned it on and use it. There are no ad SDKs and no cross-app tracking.

How do I export my data?

Go to Profile → Privacy Center → Export Data. You can export pantry, history, completed meals, shopping list and language preferences (currently as text).

How do I delete my data?

In Profile → Privacy Center, you can reset AI memory or delete all local data (including backups and the local identity). Read the confirmation carefully before deleting — local data you delete may not be recoverable. For a thorough cleanup, choose “Delete all data” first and then uninstall the app.

iOS is preparing for release; Android and HarmonyOS are available in mainland China. Contact Minqihang0119@163.com with your platform, app version and question.
